Web Design Educator & Mentor
Learn about Marcus Whitaker’s journey from freelance designer to trusted instructor. Discover his teaching style, credentials, and mission behind WhitakerWeb.
Hi, I’m Marcus Whitaker — web designer, educator, and the face behind WhitakerWeb.
With over 10 years in the design industry, I’ve worked across startups, agencies, and freelance projects, building websites and digital products that don’t just look great — they work beautifully.
My teaching style is clear, practical, and no-fluff. I believe the best way to learn web design is by doing it — so every course I offer is hands-on, project-based, and built around real-world scenarios.
Over the years, I’ve helped 500+ students (and counting!) learn the skills to launch portfolios, land freelance gigs, or transition into full-time design careers.
📈 My Journey: From Freelancer to Mentor
I started like many of my students — self-taught, figuring things out late at night, experimenting with layouts and CSS that didn’t always behave. I freelanced for small businesses, then took on agency work, and eventually ran my own client roster.
But what really lit me up was mentoring junior designers, reviewing portfolios, and helping others find their voice through design. That’s why I created WhitakerWeb — a space where I could teach what I wish I’d learned earlier, with a clear path from total beginner to confident creator.
